THE POWER OF HABIT by Charles Duhigg

Habits are essential; they allow us to get through life without considering every action we need to take. In his very interesting book, Duhigg cuts a broad swath on the subject, taking us through the useful, useless, and harmful manifestations of habits for both individuals and organizations.   The book is fascinating and entertaining, providing a powerful glimpse into habit triggers and replacement.

FEARLESS GOLF by Dr Gio Valianti

Dr Valenti delves into the mind of the golfer, that den of sabotage. In brief and readable prose with many examples from the pro world to drive home the message, he helps the golfer tackle the bogeyman of the game. He keeps it simple, understandable and do-able. A terrific read for the golfer who wants to improve perspective and focus.

THREE MILE ROAD and THROUGH BLACK SPRUCE by Joseph Boyden

Award winning novels by Boyden, they are the first and second in a trilogy that follows the struggles of two Canadian Crees - and one of their progeny - as they attempt to survive in a world of another culture's making. Powerfully written in blunt, beautiful and intelligent prose, the novels draw heavily on the author's family history and that of a heroic Cree soldier in WWI. Three Mile Road is set largely in Europe in WWI (where the two friends become famous as fearless sharp-shooters) and the personal aftermath of the Great War. Through Black Spruce returns the narrative to Northern Ontario where a later generation deals with alcoholism, loss, discovery, and love. Both volumes are gritty and unforgettable.
